5 winter items you need to raid from your closet
As we come into a new season, it means it is time to take a deep look into our closets and sort through our clothes.
We can promise there are so many winter items that you still have in your closet that you HAVE to get rid of. Chances are you don’t want to get rid of some of these items because 1. they were expensive at the time, and 2. you love the feeling of nostalgia.
Either way — these 5 items we have listed down below NEED to go. But, we want to help you update these items! Which is why we are going to explain what these items can be replaced with.
We always want to tell you all the truth, just know it always comes from a place of love. We already know that some of you might not be happy with the items we are telling you to toss out — but we PROMISE you will feel so good once you do.
Time to brace yourselves, let’s get into it :)
the diamond mosaic scarf
Let’s be honest everyone… Aritzia had us all in a CHOKEHOLD with these damn scarves. It is time to move past 2013, we can do better than this. I know you all are going to want to keep this scarf — but I promise you the best decision is to donate it.
REPLACE THIS WITH:
Big chunky, colourful scarves are the way to go! You all have probably seen Erin rock this scarf recently, and although it is a bit pricey, there are so many affordable options similar to this scarf from Zara, Mango, Simons and more. Chunky colourful scarves will instantly jazz up any of your winter outfits.
2. a beanie with a pom pom
Guys… we know you want to keep these. But we are here to tell you all the hard truth — these hats read dated and a tad juvenile. Let’s donate these hats and replace them with something more fashionable.
REPLACE THIS WITH:
Heavy knit beanies are always the way to go for the winter season. Leave all of the floppy beanies at home along with the beanies with the pom pom. A heavy knit beanie like this reads very luxe and trendy! We promise you won’t miss the pom poms.
3. the button shaft Uggs
2011 just called…they want their boots back. We don’t understand how we ever thought these were fashionable. We understand they are extremely comfortable, however you don’t need boots that look like this to be comfortable. We have a better option for you!
REPLACE THIS WITH:
We know you all already know that the ultra mini Uggs are the go-to boots of every winter season. But just in case you haven’t gotten your hands on them yet, we found them online fully in stock! Run before they sell out like they do every winter season.
4. parka with a faux fur hood
Do we even have to explain this one?… We think the silence here should speak loud enough.
REPLACE THIS WITH:
You can never go wrong with a puffer jacket! Aritzia obviously has the best puffer jackets out there, and they have added so many new styles and colours to their collection this season! This cinch waist puffer jacket is one of their newer pieces and we are obsessed.
5. Roots cabin socks
When we look back on pictures from 10 years ago, how did we ever think these looked good? — ESPECIALLY over tights?! If you still have these socks they better be stuffed at the very back if your sock drawer, and are to never see the light of day.
REPLACE THIS WITH:
White slouch socks are the best and coziest socks to wear in the winter! They still have the same effect as the Roots socks, but these read more aesthetic and are not nearly as ugly. Plus — they look super cute styled with your Ugg ultra minis ;)
